“The story behind the stone necklace came about six years ago when my dad, my twin sister Sabine and I where visiting our family farm in a small town in central Queensland called Monto.”
“While we were taking a walk down on the flood plains my Dad was telling us a story about the Jewlu. It is a dreamtime spirit creature, it looks like a dog cross panther with red eyes. My grandfather used to tell my dad stories about the Jewlu as a kid which had been told to him by the local people.”
"As we reached the rim of the dam my Dad bent down and discovered a red Agate. Sabine and I were always on the hunt for Agates, which are semi precious stones that are created from active volcanoes. The are relatively hard to find where we were, we had never found one so red and perfectly formed.”
“However, all of a sudden Sabine found another stone and to our astonishment it was almost identical to the initial one my Dad had discovered. We realised the stones we had found had to be the red eyes of the Jewlu. We took the stones home and cleaned them up. Sabine and I found black string to tie around the stones and make necklaces."
"We knew these stones were our protection and a symbol of our family stories."
“I wear the necklaces on special occasions when I need a little bit of extra confidence to face the unknown. I also wear it when I’m feeling lost and need connection with and guidance from the spirit world.”
